It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

I’ve always loved this time of year, but becoming a mom has made it even more special.  It’s a magical time of year, and viewing it through the eyes of a child takes you back to the days when you yourself believed in the magic – Santa, Rudolph, and the Abominable Snowman.  As a mom, it’s so much fun to be the one who makes that magic come to life.

Putting up the Christmas Tree:

Auditioning for a role on Santa’s sleigh team:

Admiring Christmas lights:

He loves staring at the Peanuts lights his Daddy got him:

He’s a big fan of the snowman lantern we bought through our nephew’s school fundraiser too:

We’ve had a great time making Christmas themed crafts too, like Let it Snow:

And Salt Dough Ornaments (more on that tomorrow):

I even made an evergreen wreath this year:

I’m thinking Trevor’s next Christmas project will be to make his own version of a wreath 🙂

We also went to see Santa Claus.  Trevor normally has anxiety around strangers, but he was so excited to see Santa, the Grinch, and an elf while we were standing in line that I thought he might actually sit on Santa’s lap this year.  Every time I tried putting him down he wanted right back up, so he’d have a better view of them all.  But when it was time for him to sit on Santa’s lap he wasn’t so sure of him.  So I asked him if he wanted to see the Grinch instead, and he said “neh neh” (his word for “yes”).  As soon as I handed him off he freaked out 😦  So this is our photo with Santa this year:

Fortunately he doesn’t seemed scarred by the experience.  He still wants to listen to “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch” over, and over, and over, and over…

And he loves playing with our Santa decorations.  Yesterday he decided Santa and Rudolph needed to hang out with baby Jesus and the rest of the nativity scene:

I can’t wait to see what else Trevor will enjoy doing this Christmas season.  It is definitely the most wonderful time of the year!

And I got our Christmas cards ordered yesterday.  Here’s the adorable picture of Trevor that will be on it:

Because it doesn’t get better than a super cute kid and stockings hung on the mantle 🙂
